这是中国2023年毕业生面临的选择：前往相对贫困的农村地区工作，但是这并没有说服绝大多数年轻人。
今年夏天有超过1150万名学生毕业，他们将进入一个青年失业率破纪录高的就业市场。根据官方统计数据，6月份城市地区16至24岁年轻人中有21.3%失业，一些经济学家估计真实数字可能远高于此。

教育部今年计划招募52,300个教师派往贫困地区。即使对于经验丰富的教育工作者来说，在中国偏远、欠发达的地区工作也是具有挑战性的。去年发布的一项研究发现，广西、贵州、云南和重庆的农村教师平均每周工作超过50小时，并且选择长期留在农村的教师通常“缺乏专业技能”。
